I didn’t begin this journey in the hopes of making money or garnering personal attention. As a young college student who had fallen in love with the electricity and excitement of college basketball, traveling to opposing gyms started off as an adventure and turned into what could be called an addiction. It’s been nearly four years since I’ve watched a Texas game live on television, and I can’t imagine seeing the Longhorns don the road orange without being surrounded by at least 12,000 of my closest enemies.

Unfortunately, as I approach the 150-game mark, I’ve had to cave in to MissLRT, who has been telling me for ages that I needed to solicit donations or sponsorships to make this work. The personal debt is becoming a bit ridiculous, particularly for something which is essentially a second full-time job. In the hopes of offsetting some of the costs, I’ve had a few ads in the sidebar for the last two seasons. In that time, they’ve netted me just enough money to buy a ticket to the UNC/Texas game at JerryWorld.

So, it’s with a bit of embarrassment and trepidation that I add this donation option to the website. Taking on this incredible journey was my choice, and the costs are mine to bear. But if you enjoy the articles, videos, and pictures — when I actually find time to crop and caption them — your donations would be a much-appreciated show of support. I will not ever turn a profit on this website, as it would be disingenuous to request “donations” if I were making money. But, if by some miracle the donations received ever push my LRT accounts back to break-even, I will donate any additional revenue to the American Cancer Society and the National Parkinson Foundation.

If you are reading this and are interested in advertising or sponsorship on the website or on a t-shirt for the 2010-2011 season, please send an email to marketing@longhornroadtrip.com.

Thank you for your time, your consideration, and your support. And, of course, hook ‘em.
